Hooker and Her Muscle Accused of Deadly Bronx Beat Down
A prostitute and two men have been arrested in the savage beating death of a Bronx construction worker, cops said.
Gene Lewis, 40, was bound with plastic zip-ties, beaten to a pulp with a baseball bat and strangled Feb. 27 after the hooker he hired, Carrie Schmidtka, 24, called two pals to rough him up, she told police.
Schmidtka told detectives Lewis had answered her online ad and paid $450 for three hours of sex in his apartment on Wellman Avenue in the East Bronx.
But the hardhat “started to do drugs” and “grabbed” Schmidtka, so she texted her boyfriend Derrick Gordon, 31, and his uncle, whose name was not released, to come over with a gun, she told cops.
A criminal complaint shows Schmidtka said she went to the bathroom and came out to find the men pummeling Lewis with a bat at the bottom of a staircase.
“I went back in the room and took money and the weed,” Schmidtka said in a statement, according to court records.
“All three of us got rid of our clothing,” she said, the records show. “Derrick and I got new sneakers.”
All three are charged with murder and are being held without bond.
