Loading...

A branch of multinational bank HSBC in the New Cairo district of the capital was robbed by unidentified gunmen on Monday morning. New Cairo is a high-income residential area on the outskirts of the capital. The area, known for its lavish residential compounds, also hosts the campuses of the American and German universities.

A gang of seven men entered the bank on Monday morning. The men masked themselves with chequered headscarves. They were armed with sophisticated weapons like automatic machine guns. They allegedly threatened the bank’s customers and staff at gun point. The robbers then seized large amount of cash. They acted according to a plan and fled the scene immediately after taking cash in a black SUV. However the gunmen didn’t harm anyone and no injuries were reported.
