Hector “Macho” Camacho in a Deep Coma After Being Shot

Update: Doctors say Camacho is in a deep coma. The bullet damaged three arteries that run through the neck so the blood is not arriving at the brain.
Former boxing champion Hector “Macho” Camacho in critical condition after being shot in Bayamón, P.R. during a drive-by shooting that occurred at about 7:00 pm local time (6:pm EST) today while being a passenger on board a ‘Mustang’ vehicle. The driver “Alberto Mojica” was killed, detectives say he had 10 bags of cocaine in his possession.
According to sources, Camacho has gunshot wounds to the neck and face, one bullet near his brain with no exit wound.
He was stabilized and transported to Rio Piedras Medical Center.
Police said the suspect fled in a gray Jeep Cheerokee and a chase took place. The vehicle was found in the area of Jardines de Cataño. They arrested one of the suspects around 9:pm local time.
Camacho is a former triple world boxing champion and one of the leading figures of pugilism in the 80s and 90s, known for his eccentricity and his elusive style.
