Lupe Fiasco Expresses His Anger and Disappointment Toward Pete Rock

Earlier this week Lupe Fiasco dropped Around My Way (Freedom Ain’t Free) off his upcoming Food & Liquor 2: The Great American Rap Album Part I and Part II project — which contains the same Tom Scott sample used in Pete Rock & CL Smooth’s classic, T.R.O.Y.

Pete Rock wasn’t happy with it.

@PeteRock: No disrespect to lupe fiasco and i like him alot but TROY should be loeft alone. Feel so violated, the beat is next to my heart and was made outta anguish and pain. When it’s like that it should not be touched by no one! Who ever re-created that didn’t do a good job @ all. #nohate. I’m not flattered @ all. Dat shit is wack, and the producer should be ashamed of his fuckin self. SMG. I think lupe is a great artist, I’m that angry with him but it’s a major label idea. I can feel it.

But then Lupe and Pete Rock talked and worked everything out.

@PeteRock: I just got off da phone lupe, we worked out our differences and we about to get it in. Gonna be epic and we gonna give Troy and Hev the proper respect they deserve and make history with lupe.
