9-Year-Old Shot in Foot & Didn’t Shed a Tear
On Thursday, a 9-year-old girl was shot in the foot by a stray bullet while walking home from church in Brooklyn. Second-grader Dulce Cabrera talked to the Daily News about the incident, and proudly told them she didn’t cry: “I didn’t cry for nothing,” she said. “The ambulance driver man said if that was him, he would be crying. He said I was strong.”
The shooting happened outside 333 Jerome St. in East New York just after 10 pm on Thursday. Police say that there was a dispute in the area, which resulted in at least half a dozen shots being fired. Dulce was walking home with her father from church when she got hit: “People were shooting. I saw them with guns,” she said. “They shot me in the foot. I didn’t feel anything at first, but then my sock was wet.” No arrests have been made in the shooting yet.
