Toronto Man in Serious Condition after Shooting at Young Jeezy Concert
A young man is in hospital after being shot during a concert by Young Jeezy at the Sound Academy concert venue in Toronto’s Port Lands early Thursday morning.
Officers were called to Sound Academy around midnight after gunfire rang out inside the venue at 11 Polson St., where the male victim got into an altercation with at least one other person before the shooting took place, police say.
The victim was shot three times in the torso and was driven to St. Michael’s Hospital by someone other than paramedics. He is in serious but stable condition.
Police have not made any arrests and have not released the name of the victim.
The shooting occurred before Young Jeezy took the stage, but the concert was cancelled for security and investigative purposes. After the shooting, the rapper sent out a couple of tweets about the incident, promising his fans he will return to Toronto. In a tweet he said, “Backstage @ Sound Academy in Toronto! Police closed venue and cancelled the greatest show!!! I will be back! Next stop London, Ontario!” the rapper tweeted shortly before 3:30 a.m.
